halloween handmade extravaganza!

The first edtion of the halloween extravaganza is of course a fairy.

This is a cute dragonfairy that lives in the trees behind my house.

Isn't she cute and dark and i think she was just ignoring me. trying to pretend i wasn't there. lol

oops she saw me!

The bright colors for these black and blue wings were inspired by the morpho blue butterfly.
but the shape of them was inspired by the dragonflies in my garden.

sea kelp mermaid fins

This is my next set of mermaid fins This set is called sea kelp mermaid fins.

This set are made of 2 layers of lycra/swimsuit fabric and four ruffles to make the fluke and side fins.The ruffles were something i had never tried to make before and it was really hard. O.O

I looked up on the internet how to make ruffled pillows and just made the ruffles long enough to fit the fins. Trying to scrunch them was a task though lol the first thing i tried was sewing floss in to the ruffle so that i could pull it and it would scrunch up. ya it didn't work that way lol. the floss kept ripping off and it was looking to much like a scrunchy pillow not a ruffle one. so istead i just did it the hard way lol and folded it they way i wanted it. it just took me longer to do but it was worth all the time and work because it looks awesome.

My inspiration was the kelp forests of la jolla coves ca.

baby giraffe fabric

My cousin called me the other day sheena sheena! I want you to make me two hats for a friend of mines baby shower. she was so cute and excited. She said i was standing in walmart in the baby department and i was looking at the cute baby hats with the little balls on top and thought it would be cute to have hats with ears on them and i had a epiphany! sheena makes hats with ears on top. She can make them for me!

so she disided that she wanted a bear hat and a giraffe hat. for her friends to little boys.

Well the bear hat was easy Fuzzy brown fleece with cute round ears. like the polar bear one on my kitsune fashion etsy site.

The giraffe one was a different story lol. Trying to find giraffe print fleece was hard O.O I looked everywhere! i looked at 4 different fabric stores and there was no giraffe fleece. i finaly found this adorable baby giraffe fabric with the help of the lovely ladies that work there at a local fabric store it's not fleece but it's fuzzy and cute so i think it's perfect!
